@ -95,6 +95,28 @@ The next thing you need to do is create an address for receiving payments. This
$ bitcoin-cli getnewaddress
tb1q05ua6g7njnjrtsjc0t9w3jc6g2leeznasf4ny9
```
You can keep typing the command you'll get a different address each time:
```
$ bitcoin-cli getnewaddress
tb1q0psqqqgy0fv5928wmk86ntu7hlax8dva7nl82p
$ bitcoin-cli getnewaddress
tb1q9f8j03uywqsxuxjefz68g7x4kduer2ky6shsf4
```
You can later look up the addresses you've generated with `bitcoin-cli getaddressesbylabel`, with the label being `""` unless you set one:
```
$ bitcoin-cli getaddressesbylabel ""
{
"tb1q9f8j03uywqsxuxjefz68g7x4kduer2ky6shsf4": {
"purpose": "receive"
},
"tb1q0psqqqgy0fv5928wmk86ntu7hlax8dva7nl82p": {
"purpose": "receive"
},
"tb1q05ua6g7njnjrtsjc0t9w3jc6g2leeznasf4ny9": {
"purpose": "receive"
}
}
```
Note that this address begins with an "tb1", which [means](https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/List_of_address_prefixes) that it's a Bech32 address on either signet or testnet. The discussion of different address types in §4.1 will also talk about all of their identifying prefixes.
> :link: **SIGNET vs MAINNET vs TESTNET:** The equivalent mainnet address would start with a "bc1".
